organic substance removal from waste stream for permit renewal

Return to the overview

Organic substance removal

A chemical industry client uses tributylphosphate (TBP) as an extraction agent in their production process. Due to stricter environmental permit requirements, the client needed to significantly reduce TBP concentrations in their wastewater to continue operations.

Inopsys targeted a specific condensate stream responsible for the highest TBP load, treating it before it entered the existing wastewater treatment system. The treatment combined filtration and adsorption using specialized resins, effectively reducing TBP levels from parts per million (ppm) to low parts per billion (ppb). The system handles an average flow of 12 m³/h, with capacity to treat peaks over 18 m³/h.

The installation successfully removes TBP to below permit limits and even below detection limits, ensuring regulatory compliance. It has been continuously operational since January 2025, delivering reliable, efficient treatment tailored to the client’s needs.

our unit is mobile and modular.

  • No on-site assembly - safety
  • Easy to move
  • No real infrastructure adaptation or big CAPEX required
  • Changes to the side stream composition, production, of regulations can be handled with replacement or addition of new module(s)
