PFAS-verwijdering uit historische contaminatie op een tankenpark

PFAS verwijdering uit neerslagwater

A tank storage facility was required to remove PFAS from precipitation water before it could be discharged to an industrial wastewater treatment plant. The contamination originated from historical use of fire extinguishing foams on-site. With a flowrate of 50 m³/hour and elevated COD levels due to on-site storage of organic substances, the treatment solution needed to address multiple water quality challenges.

Through lab trials, Inopsys identified the most effective treatment train based on the fit-for-purpose principle. Pretreatment was limited to the removal of total suspended solids (TSS), followed by PFAS-specific ion-exchange resins (IEX). Given the high COD levels, IEX was preferred over granular activated carbon (GAC) to avoid rapid resin fouling, while the remaining organics are managed downstream by the existing industrial WWTP. This selective approach optimized both cost and operational efficiency.

Since November 2025, Inopsys' fully automated unit has been reliably removing all measurable PFAS from the precipitation water, ensuring compliant discharge to the downstream treatment plant.
